Perhaps many of you have wondered how  we got started ? I would say , like most of you , I got a cocker. No, I did not get it from a pet store , I knew that much.
After that  I said , "Oh , well I own a pure bred , lets show it. "  I visited  David Roberts and I have to admit he was very kind. He said, "I am sure he will make a good pet " and  I figured out what he was saying.

Then I went to Tedwin Kennels and met Johnny Paluga and Ted Young. At this point I started my research on pedigree lines and  colors. I expressed to them that I was interested in a show dog . They recommended some local breeders , but none of them had a female, so to get my self started I went to see Florence Wright.  I got Ch . Hillside's Sir Lancelot.  He got his championship with  help from Cliff Steel. He goes back to the all time winning bitch Ch. Sagamore Tocooa , a Westminster winner. I continued going to Tedwin and I remember going there to learn how to groom , how to take care of a kennel , and  discussed  breeding ,  pedigree etc.

Shortly after ,Ted got me what was my foundation , Hillside's At Last Adriana. She was actually bred by Doris Fink . Her prefix then was Primetime . When she lived in New Jersey she used the prefix White Deer . I am so grateful to Doris for letting me have Addie . Unfortunately I did not finish her , but she did have a five point major and multiple best puppy  in show. Doris is now living in St. Augustine  Florida.

Addie was bred three times. Our first time was not  what we were looking for. Then we tried again and she was bred to Springtyms Puff The Magic Dragon a great-grandson of Ch.Harlanhaven's  High and Mighty (JOSH). We had three champions.  Then she was bred to Ch . Durspens Bold Venture ,  he is owned by Pauline Harrison and out of this breeding Ch. Hillside Million Dollar Baby was born . Three finished out of that mating .
From the third litter we had  Ch. Hillside Lady Guenevere  and  she was bred to Ch . Sillverhal Soldier Of Fortune and branched out into the blacks .  We did have a  couple  of parti colors. One of my mentors has been Ms. Annie Eaton Noble (Petts Cockers),  in the early days Mr. Johnny Paluga and Michael Allen .(Baliwick Cockers)
Cockers are my passion and out of that passion I am driven to produce a great cocker. Breeding is an ART. It gives the ability to put two dogs together and from them you will envision what  you will have for your future. You should be choosing a stud dog and a bitch that  will complement each other. To breed to a stud dog just because he is a top winning dog  may not always give you what you are looking for, whether line bred or not.
As breeders  the responsibility is to the breed and to satisfy ourselves to breed to the breed standard.

From here the evolution continues to the present.
